@coolboy001 you have to maintain your status. The Army wont be responsible if you lose your status. The only moment you don't worry about your F-1 it is when you are already shipped to BCT. Like I said, the Army isn't responsible nor will help you if you lose your status while still going through the process.
My comments are my personal opinions based on my experience and knowledge and not that of the Army or any other user on mavni center. Information is considered "as is"
@hsztot I am in the same situation. Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) is a type of United States security clearance investigation required for Top Secret, SCI and Q access, and involves investigators or agents interviewing past employers, coworkers and other individuals associated with the subject of the SSBI.
I am currently an enlisted mavni who's going to be shipped within this year. Based from our recent meetings with our commander, I can confirm that MAVNI as of the moment has been suspended because applicants who are still pending for a background check are being processed or rather being prioritized first before army can take-in new applicants.
My guess is that MAVNI will reopen late this year or early next year once applicant backlog has been fulfilled. Currently, backlog applicants such as myself are being processed and I can assure you that the program is in motion. It may be slow but it is in motion.
Understand that most of us have waited almost 2 years for this entire process to be complete. This is the case for us current enlistees because we were in the wrong place at the wrong time when we entered military via MAVNI. MAVNI at that time was bound for an overhaul in terms of applicant screening, and we were smack in the middle of it. But now the sky is finally clearing out and in time MAVNI will accept applicants again. I suggest calling the nearest recruiting office. Internet may only help you so much but talking to an actual recruiter may yield a more satisfying and personal result.
Good luck and always remember, everything comes to those who wait.
@kyle37 It is true. MAVNI right now is restructuring their applicant processing procedures and policies. 2017 MAVNI is on hold because it needs to focus on the current applicants and/or soldiers that have already sworn in and signed contract. Once that issue has been addressed, along with a consolidated applicant processing system, I think they will reopen the program. I heard from people that is may open of May 2017 or August 2017
@hk343 I truly believe so. The backlag has affected everyone under the MAVNI program. I truly feel the OPM overestimated the sheer volume of MAVNI applicants thus affected MAVNI contracts ultimately putting applicants and even soldiers as yourself who have already completed training on an indefinite hold. I feel that they are still consolidating their processing system for background check for MAVNI that is why we are experiencing delays. And at some point they may have panicked and decided to add additional background checks. That is most probably why they suspended MAVNI to address backlag and then they'll reopen along with a more reliable background processing system. We just have to be always prepared for any outcome be it negative or positive. It's basically a waiting game. As of now, military personnel with knowledge over this will tell you to just wait and keep doing what it is that your doing. For DEP soldiers, get DA from USCIS so that you may get work permit while waiting for BCT. Good luck to us all and stay informed. Information is key. Always
Hey Admin! Actually, I've enlisted in Active duty in May 2016. I’m done with ASVAB and Physical but OPI is yet to be completed. However, it was closed suddenly. When it re open for FY 2017, do I need to apply again or is it okay with old application. I do have some register # like that. My question is -5000 slots for FY 2016 has completed already. Is my application goes into those 1200 for FY 2017? If yes, their couldn't be more chance for new enlistees right? Because, there are lot of peoples who are stayed on hold in middle of the process. Thanks.
